The original 30GB or 40GB HDD inside the DRZ09 is a mechanical drive. It will fail. If you replace it with a new IDE hard drive or a Compact Flash (CF) card adapter, the drive is blank. The only way to make the unit recognize the new hardware is to boot from the installation disk.
