John Constantine has lung cancer from years of heavy smoking. Knowing he will go to Hell for his past suicide attempt, he performs exorcisms to earn favor with Heaven. He gets involved with police detective Angela Dodson (Rachel Weisz), whose twin sister died suspiciously – a suicide that Constantine suspects is demonic. Together, they uncover a plot by the archangel Gabriel and the demon Mammon to bring Hell to Earth.
