Debonair was the brainchild of entrepreneur , owner of the G. Claridge Printing Press. The first issue debuted in April 1974 , featuring a mix of style, news, and its most famous (and controversial) element: the topless female centerfold.
Currently, the most complete collection of issues resides in the private hard drives of about 50-100 serious collectors worldwide. These collectors treat the files like rare vinyl records—trading them via encrypted USB drives at meetups or using password-protected ZIP files.
