"Cross the fog" repeats twice. In FromSoftware games, fog represents the boundary between failure and purpose. It is a narrative device that resets the player’s status: you leave the mundane (death) and enter the mythic (the Lands Between).
The voice direction is the script's greatest asset. The narrator (Martha Mackintosh) delivers the lines with a mournful, almost exhausted gravitas.
