The illustrators employed a darker color palette in Ep 42: deep maroons, charcoal grays, and sickly yellows. Notice the recurring motif of doors and thresholds—every important conversation happens in a doorway. This symbolizes the characters’ inability to fully enter or exit each other’s lives.
