A standout feature in this build is the introduction of the "Social Battery" HUD. In previous versions, you could listen to Phil indefinitely. In v0.4, ignoring Phil degrades your battery (leading to a "System Shutdown" ending), while engaging too much overheats the system. This push-pull mechanic forces the player into the uncomfortable role of a friend who is exhausted by the friendship itself.
