This paper explores the intersection of horticultural practice and life design through the conceptual lens of the LifeSelector Top – a hypothetical decision-making tool that visualizes life paths as branching, rotating layers of possibility. Drawing on the narrative genre of “gardener’s adventures,” we argue that gardening offers a unique model for understanding how choices unfold over time: not as linear selections but as dynamic, responsive engagements with living systems. The Top represents the rotating axis of priorities (health, relationships, work, creativity) around which daily decisions spin. By analyzing case studies from memoir-based gardening literature and decision theory, we propose a framework where the gardener learns to read seasonal cues, prune ruthlessly, and embrace ecological uncertainty as a source of adventure.
