Centuries ago, mammals, birds, and reptiles lived in a fractured world. A plague called the “Scaled Sleep” (a psychological condition causing reptiles to enter a violent, territorial fugue state) led mammal leaders to declare reptiles “non-sentient” and drive them underground. The city was built on top of their civilization. The “taming” of predators like Nick was only half the story—the real lie was the complete erasure of an entire class of beings.
